What is the mission of Coletivo de Escalada de Lençóis?
Mission: Introduce climbing, trekking and outdoor activities to the local community of Lençóis, empower and train young adults and teenagers willing to work as local guides.
Vision: Use climbing and outdoor activities as a mechanism of social, environmental, and political change.
What is the history of your organization?
The group started the activities 3 years ago. During the pandemic, got organized as a collective. We were inspired by the project Centro de Escalada Urbana in Rio and another project that happened in the city of Igatu 10 years ago.
What are your current programs/areas of work?
Youth
What positive impacts are you creating?
Empowering and training young adults and teenagers willing to work as local guides. Helping them access climbing and the outdoors.
What are your organization's goals/vision for the future?
Become formally registred and expand activities.
